2012 Butterfly Pavillion Trip for 2nd Grade!
On September 28th, the second grade classes to a trip to the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver. They started their day off with a class, and demonstration about habitats. They were able to investigate a bug called the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach, to find out why it had that name. “IT REALLY HISSES!” We talked about the food chain and why animals eat other animals. When they were finished with that, they were able to go to the various exhibits throughout the pavilion. While everyone had a chance to hold Rosie, the pavilion’s tarantula, not everyone did. The most amazing part was when they were in with the butterflies. The butterflies were all around them, even landing on them! They also watched butterflies come out of the chrysalis! It was amazing! They had a wonderful time and learned so much and really want to thank everyone that helped make this trip the success it was!
